Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 28, 2026

Short version: RetIQ runs entirely on your device — whether you use it in a browser, on iPhone, or on Mac. Your financial data never leaves your device. We don't have servers storing your retirement plan, and we don't track your usage.

1. Who we are

RetIQ is a retirement planning application by RetIQ Studio LLC. You can reach us at support@retirementiq.app.

2. Data that stays on your device

All retirement planning inputs, calculations, and projections are processed locally on your device. On the web, data is stored in your browser's localStorage. On iOS and macOS, data is stored in the app's private sandboxed storage. In all cases, this data is never transmitted to our servers. We have no access to your financial information.

If you export an HTML or JSON snapshot of your plan, that file is saved to your device and stays there. We never receive a copy.

3. Data we do collect

Purchase information (web): When you purchase RetIQ on the web, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive your email address from Stripe solely to deliver your license key and provide support. We do not store credit card numbers or full payment details — those remain with Stripe.

Purchase information (iOS and macOS): When you purchase the full version through Apple's App Store, payment is processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive your email address, payment details, or any personal information from Apple. Your purchase is verified on-device through Apple's StoreKit framework.

Trial tokens (web only): When you start a free trial on the web, our server issues a cryptographically signed token stored in your browser's localStorage. This token contains only a timestamp and an anonymized network identifier used to limit trial abuse. It does not contain any personal or financial information. The iOS and macOS apps use a free tier instead of a trial — no token is issued.

Support emails: If you contact us at support@retirementiq.app, we retain your email and message in order to respond to you.

4. Data we do not collect

We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies. We do not collect browsing behavior, usage patterns, or device fingerprints. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Third-party services

Stripe (web purchases): Web payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. When you purchase RetIQ on the web, you interact with Stripe's checkout interface. Stripe's privacy policy applies to information you provide during checkout: stripe.com/privacy.

Apple (iOS and macOS purchases): In-app purchases on iOS and macOS are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple's privacy policy applies to information collected during purchase: apple.com/legal/privacy. RetIQ does not receive personal information from Apple as part of this process.

Cloudflare: The RetIQ web app is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log basic request metadata (IP address, timestamp) as part of normal network operations. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

6. Cookies and local storage

RetIQ does not use cookies. On the web, we use browser localStorage to store your plan data and license status locally on your device. On iOS and macOS, data is stored in the app's private sandboxed storage. In all cases, data remains on your device and can be cleared at any time — through your browser settings (web) or by deleting the app (iOS/macOS).

7. Children's privacy

RetIQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

Since we hold minimal personal data, your primary right is the right to erasure. On the web, you can delete your local data by clearing your browser's localStorage for retirementiq.app. On iOS or macOS, deleting the app removes all local data. If you purchased on the web and want your email address deleted from our records, contact us at support@retirementiq.app. If you purchased through the App Store, we hold no personal information to delete.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of RetIQ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
